Milano Sublime

an itinerary through the streets of Milanese elegance
Through the ‘Milano Sublime’ project, Coem translates the heritage of Candoglia marble – the symbol of the Duomo of Milan – into porcelain stoneware, thanks to a collaboration with the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano. This project combines archives, craftsmanship and contemporaneity: from quarries and stonemasons’ workshops to an interpretation of design in which material takes the form of an architectural surface able to engage with contemporary spaces.
This unique collection unfolds as an authentic visual and cultural narrative, in which each setting is conceived as a stage in an urban itinerary inspired by Milan, where light and material play a central role. Light, in particular, becomes a design element able to reveal surfaces, generating depth and chiaroscuro effects evocative of the atmosphere of the city and of the Cathedral itself.
Within this narrative, Milano Sublime takes shape in two main variants that offer complementary interpretations of the same original material. Puro represents the brightest, most luminous essence of Candoglia marble: a finish with a subtle pink background crossed by fine, clean grey veining. This variant is designed for minimal, contemporary environments, where light amplifies the perception of space and the surface fosters visual continuity between the floors and walls.
Lume, on the other hand, offers a warmer, more intense interpretation of the material. The shades of colour shift toward a deeper pinkish-grey, with soft, subtle amber tones that create a smooth, timeless aesthetic. This variant is designed to enhance more sophisticated, elaborate settings, while maintaining a strong connection to the stone’s original identity.
The collection is conceived as a journey through the iconic streets of Milan. Each space inspired by the collection seeks to embody the spirit of a particular street, reinterpreting its architecture, lifestyle and above all, its light. In this visual narrative, ceramic surfaces become a stage upon which modern life unfolds. The beauty of Milano Sublime lies in its ability to convey a rich, vibrant meaning with a simple aesthetic. It is a collection that never raises its voice, gently transmitting a distinctly Milanese awareness: true elegance is all about details, quality materials and rigorous shapes. The Puro line embodies the understated elegance of the city’s most prestigious streets, with a narrative that focuses on the heart of the Quadrilatero della Moda fashion district formed by Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga and Via Sant’Andrea, where surfaces take on a light, elegant allure, with delicate, luminous tones that enhance detail and embody discreet luxury. Along Corso Magenta, this vision expands into a more residential and cultural dimension, defined by balance, harmony and continuity between space and material.
The Lume line celebrates the vibrant nature of light, bringing a warmer, more intense allure and shaping more enveloping atmospheres. In Corso Venezia, Via Vivaio and Via Mozart, spaces take on a more intimate, sophisticated character, with soft light and deeper tones creating welcoming, evocative ambiences. Finally, Via Brera expresses the city’s most creative, vibrant soul that nurtures art, culture and experimentation, translating material into a contemporary style language.
