Extra-large is in fashion: large sizes are the main attractions in 2019

An important trend for ceramics also at Coverings 2019

While it’s true that the small format allows for a wide variety of installation patterns, many people today prefer to have continuous surfaces which, besides responding better to the aesthetic need of a certain type of contemporary design, offer greater visual homogeneity and undoubted practicality. It can be confidently affirmed that extra-large formats, besides being very attractive, are also synonymous with great practicality, both in the installation and in maintenance. These are all extremely important factors considering today’s lifestyles and the dimensions of living spaces.

Large-size slabs are cool! And have high performance levels…

Technological progress and the evolution of digital printing permit the creation of large size surfaces able to perfectly reproduce natural materials such as stone and marble, also the rarest and most precious, with, in addition, the possibility of having minimum thicknesses.
The result? Guaranteed rapid creation of original and striking works!

50 shades of colour

There’s certainly plenty of colour also in the large size: there are more and more collections of extra-large tiles offering extremely varied and original colours. It’s an additional touch that has transformed the image of a product which was considered chiefly technical until a short time ago, promoting its use in the home and allowing for special and original effects. In addition, the large size of the slabs generates continuity in the spaces, also between external and internal areas thanks to coordinated collections, creating more openness and spaciousness to dwellings and commercial areas.

Large projects with the COEM collections

Today it’s clear that large slabs provide architects, interior designers and future inhabitants of any space (from the bathroom to the kitchen) great freedom of expression and endless possibilities for integrated design. Their main point of strength? Maximum possible creativity thanks to a thickness of 6 mm for large size tiles of 120×260cm, 120×240cm and 120×120cm. With WIDEgres, Ceramich Coem has created various extra-large collections, so that customers can find the right solution and manage to personalise their surroundings as much as possible: Marmi Effect is a WIDEgres260 collection that offers an elegant marble effect with a sophisticated design; Reverso and Reverso2 are WIDEgres240 collections that interpret the retro aspect of travertine slabs; Cardoso and Pietra Valmalenco in WIDEgres240 offer two different versions of minimal stone.

Lots of new ideas at Coverings

Coverings, the most important international trade fair for tiles and natural stone in North America, was held from 9 to 12 April at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, in Florida. The WIDEgres collections, Ceramiche Coem’s large sizes, were star attractions, also here. In particular, the new WIDEgres260 was presented at this trade fair across the ocean. It’s an extremely refined collection, in which the effect created by the porcelain stoneware is that of the most precious marbles. The large dimensions of the slabs in this case allow for the possibility not only of having significant visual continuity, but also of having sophisticated and extremely elegant finishings, making it possible to redefine living spaces creating a strong link between classic but also contemporary furnishings. WIDEgres260 is able to combine in a harmonious way strong visual impact and practicality. You will be fascinated by the graphics offered in this collection: from the Port Laurent effect with dark and deep reflections, to the bright and elegant Calacatta and Statuario effect, as far as the Imperial effect of warm and sophisticated tones.
