Rethinking the exterior with style

A facade is not just a building envelope that protects the home from external influences, but also an element that characterises its aesthetic aspect. The new facade must fit harmoniously and discretely into the surrounding landscape and can even become a prominent element of a new residential development. The possibilities are numerous and diversified. Personalising the facade is possible in order to create a unique look, whether it’s a private residence, a modern corporate headquarters or a retail area.

Why a new facade?

The building envelope is decisive for the duration of our home. First of all, it protects it from weather conditions, such as snow, rain, wind and sun. Considering, moreover, that weather conditions have become increasingly extreme in the last few decades, the ability to contrast atmospheric influences and adequately protect your home has become ever more important. Besides protecting the building, the facade also has other important functions that absolutely must be taken into consideration, particularly that of reducing energy consumption.

Take inspiration from the COEM collections

Ceramiche Coem has created various collections perfect for use in external facades; a wide range that will allow you to personalise your home or business space to the full. Exploring the COEM site, you can see a number of very interesting projects, for example, the Jungfrau Center complex, a building for retail and residential use in Interlaken, enveloped by a ventilated façade covered by stone-effect porcelain stoneware from the CARDOSO collection. The designer, the architect Ewald Wellig, has chosen COEM porcelain stoneware in Dark Grey and Anthracite: the overall effect is minimalist and extremely elegant in its simplicity.
Another project in a thermal cladding version is Villa Bloemendaal 3, built on the edge of a forest in the vicinity of Bloemendaal in Holland. The naturalness of the context is maintained most of all thanks to the external coverings with the “Listello Multiformato” in PIETRA VALMALENCO porcelain stoneware in the Anthracite colour, a wonderful material effect that creates a unique bond between dwelling and nature.
