The Porfirica Collection: the elegant and material fascination of history in our homes

The stone-effect of this new Coem collection enchants for brightness and elegance

Stone-effect is a trend confirmed for the new year for the world of ceramics; modern yet, at the same time, a bit retro, it lends environments an extremely sober, material allure. The collections in porcelain stoneware evolve towards the classic taste of stones with renewed attention to harmony, with elegant and very natural results. Among its new collections Coem proposes Porfirica, made in stone-effect porcelain stoneware, ideal for lending an extremely unique character to spaces, both inside and outside. Thanks to Porfirica, Coem interprets and masters stone as a source of inspiration, recovering the three-dimensional quality of the ceramic material.

Stone as an element of interior design

From architecture to interior design, the beauty of stone has entered contemporary living spaces through coverings in ever more realistic material effect ceramics. Stone-effect porcelain stoneware takes inspiration from a material whose charm lies in its being able to portray, through variations in colour and veining, the place of origin and the process of sedimentation which over the course of millions of years has left its mark on the material, making every variety unique. History seems to enter on tip-toe into our houses to enrich our living areas with whispered charm and elegance. The stone-effect collections presented at Cersaie 2019 by Coem seem to be not only the perfect representation of the chromatic and morphological characteristics of this special and unique material, but also the reinterpretation of varieties with rare material effects which, thanks to the ceramic material, become accessible through the surprising mimetic quality of porcelain stoneware, making it possible to obtain in a short time what nature has taken thousands of years to create.

Light is the absolute protagonist of our environments

“Lighting fragments and vivid colours for a different stone”: this is the launch phrase Coem chose for presenting the new Porfirica collection at Cersaie 2019. The innovative ability of companies depends on continuous experimentation which, thanks to the development of cutting-edge production systems and technologies, makes it possible to offer a vast range of extremely high-quality products. This series, in particular, takes inspiration from porphyry, a stone of magmatic origin with colour shades fluctuating between red, brown and grey, known for its characteristics of hardness and resistance. Porfirica is ideal for developing interior design projects relating not only to a specific area of the home, such as, for example, the daytime area, but can be a unifying element for all the environments, in a perfect combination between harmony and nature, an expression of brightness and a sense of balance between interior and external spaces, in a continuum without interruptions.

History as a feature of interior design

The porcelain stoneware of Porfirica is a truly architectural material, versatile for every context, both commercial and residential. The collection enhances the characteristics of the original stone, porphyry, mainly through 2 graphic versions: one fine-grained, inspired by the original stone, and the other a coarse grain agglomerate. The resulting effect? Extreme variety in light reflections and shadings thanks, especially, to the three surface finishes: natural, polished and outdoor, with 5 intense colorations and a dual texture to try out new creative compositions for floors and walls. Porfirica is available in 5 fascinating colours: Grey, Graphite, Purple, Brown and Black (also in an aglo version, that is, coarse-grained).
