When the covering is natural, tactile and dynamic

The new stone effects of Ceramiche Coem, star attractions at Cersaie 2018

There are always new developments presented at the Bologna show dedicated to ceramics. We went straightaway to take a look at the Ceramiche Coem stand. When we arrived we were met with natural, minimalist and design atmospheres that immediately impressed us for the cleanness of the lines and the refinement of the textures.
The search for a living context characterized by natural materials is certainly one of the most fashionable trends in the world of interior design today and has been one of the main features of Cersaie 2018. Ceramiche Coem presented its new collections, inspired by the eternal fascination of stone through a ceramic surface with an essential design and natural colours. Thanks to these new collections, the architectural barriers that separate indoors from outdoors are more fluid, while natural elements have entered the home to stay. Soft tones, sinuous lines, fascinating effects of light and shade create pleasant atmospheres to be enjoyed in the living room, in the kitchen or in the bathroom, without limits or boundaries of space. The coverings and floorings proposed by Coem are based on the presence and texture of the material, used to create a beautiful and technological design. Elegance and resistance, strength and materiality: this is the atmosphere that we experienced while we discovered one after the other the new proposals in porcelain stoneware, which preserve all the fascination and refinement of natural stones, with the high performances guaranteed by ceramic technology. Warm and cold tones, structured and natural surfaces, large and small formats, numerous possibilities for personalizing environments to the maximum. We were particularly impressed by the textures of the Lagos, Modica and Blendstone collections, sophisticated in their simplicity and very luminous. “Stone vibrations” is the Coem concept for this Cersaie which, thanks to the collections proposed, has managed to create a contemporary setting, in which the fascination of the material combines perfectly with an original natural stylistic approach to inspire a new taste in home furnishing.

Sicily and the charm of its natural stone: this is the Modica collection

Modica stone is a limestone rock extracted in the Hyblaean Mountains area in Sicily and takes its name from the town there. Originally its dominant colours are light with parts ranging from white with grey accents to a warmer beige. Modica by Coem reproduces both the look and the tones of the Sicilian rock. Its textures have a very delicate design and it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor areas. Coem extends the vision and changes perspective, enhancing the design by offering a new and unconventional double interpretation of the material: the first is “softened” to suit sophisticated and minimalist indoor and outdoor environments; the second is more “STONE”, fully exploiting the original atmosphere of traditional Modica architecture both indoors and outdoors. The minimal version is offered in large formats while the STONE version comes in 60.4×90.6 cm and sub-formats to create sober, linear and very contemporary modularities. The space in which it is inserted is minimal, modern, refined and strongly contaminated by the luminosity that characterizes typical stones of southern Italy.

Lagos: numerous nuances and a wide range of decorations and formats

The collection is inspired by a natural limestone rock found in different colours ranging from light grey, enriched with slightly greenish accents, to a more intense and uniform grey. Lagos comes in the natural and earthy shades of the original material, and with a wide range of decorations and formats. The surface is made slightly more dynamic by more or less visible veins that lend an authentic and sophisticated look. Suitable for both indoors and outdoors, its minimal and contemporary look, available in three different finishes, makes it possible to create different combinations also together with other materials, such as concrete, wood or satin-finished metals, generating a sophisticated overall feeling. The charm and natural beauty of the Lagos stone suit a balanced home context in which minimal architecture and design highlight the ceramic texture of the collection, creating environments which are essential and welcoming at the same time.

Blendstone: a perfect balance between material inspirations and design

The key is: contamination of the project with the natural world. This collection is the result of a skilful mix of designs taken from marbles, Burlington stones and worn surfaces. Coem’s interpretation creates a unique material that embraces different natural suggestions, available in 5 colour variants without shading, which act as a “leitmotif”. New connections have therefore been created between nature and interior design. Blendstone’s characteristic appearance is for those who wish to surround themselves with natural materials without renouncing on quality and practicality; it’s a combination which is a symbol of modernity and sobriety, creating spaces with minimal and linear moods. Colours and surfaces enhance each other with elegance; everything is in its place in a stylistic stillness which is not cold but strongly contemporary. The collection is available in a natural, polished or structured finish while maintaining the aesthetic qualities unaltered, and fits in discretely in every home design, lending natural aesthetic continuity to spaces.
